Ashley has been looking forward to her birthday for months. She is so relieved and happy to finally be 5 years old. Even on Saturday the 5th at her birthday party, she made sure everyone knew that she wasn't 5 years old "yet". Come Sunday morning, her first question was, "So am I REALLY 5 years old now?" It's so funny to watch her mind work. Ashley decided to host a big girl party this year at the base bowling alley. It was such a change from the normal home parties/bbq's. John and I are so used to all the work associated with them that this party just seemed to throw itself in the end. We had a great turnout overall. Thanks to all who were able to join us for her big girl party. She enjoyed every last minute of it.
We spent her actual birthday pretty much doing what Ashley wanted within reason. Unfortunately, the weather was awful so her dreams for making it to the zoo and playing outside were washed away. Luckily, she's a pretty easy girl to please and in the end she just wanted to go to a couple of restaurants and do a little shopping with some of her birthday money, with a little break in between when John had to go into work for a couple hours.
